Serving as the Auburn University Swim and Dive Team Chaplain over the past year has been an immense privilege, guided by the grace and leading of the Holy Spirit. This unique opportunity, uncommon in collegiate athletics, allows us daily engagement with student-athletes. We’ve witnessed remarkable spiritual growth, including conversions, baptisms, and discipleship, fostering a deep commitment to Christ among team members. It’s a truly inspiring experience.

To sustain and expand this vital ministry, we seek faithful partners to provide both prayer and financial support. Our unique access to these Division I athletes’ schedules enables us to build meaningful, lasting relationships during a formative period in their lives, impacting them significantly for God’s glory. While athletic victories are commendable, the ultimate victory—eternal life—is priceless, a message we strive to share consistently.

Preaching the gospel to student-athlete swimmers and divers at Auburn University offers a unique and impactful opportunity to engage with a group of highly disciplined and driven individuals. These athletes are not only dedicated to their sport but also embody values of hard work, perseverance, and teamwork, all of which align well with the principles of the Christian faith. Through relationships built on trust and respect, the message of the gospel can be shared in a way that resonates deeply with these student-athletes. Many of them face the pressures of balancing intense training schedules, academic responsibilities, and the desire for personal success, which creates a perfect platform to introduce the hope and peace found in Christ. As they work together to achieve their athletic goals, they are also presented with a chance to grow spiritually, learning how to place their identity and worth in Christ rather than solely in their athletic performance.

Auburn University’s Swim and Dive Team represents a diverse group of students, making it a ripe mission field to reach individuals from various backgrounds, cultures, and life experiences. Because of this diversity, we are literally reaching the world with the live changing message of the Cross! Engaging with these student-athletes allows for the creation of lasting relationships that extend beyond the pool deck, offering mentorship, fellowship, and spiritual guidance. Many of these athletes will go on to lead in their respective fields, both within sports and in other aspects of life, making their spiritual growth particularly significant. By offering them the gospel, there is the opportunity to influence not only their college experience but also their futures, equipping them to live out their faith in meaningful ways. The chance to impact the next generation of leaders while supporting them in their athletic journeys is an incredible and fulfilling calling for anyone passionate about sharing the good news.
